KIWANIS CLUB OF SUN LAKES

The first Kiwanis club was organized in Detroit in January 1915 and the first Kiwanis International Convention was held in Detroit in May 1917 with fifty-two organized clubs and a membership of 5,700.

The Kiwanis Club of Sun Lakes was organized November 8, 1983 with Earl Nagel as the first club president.  The Club has two major fund raising efforts every year, a golf tournament at Sun Lakes Country Club in late November or early December and a pancake breakfast held at Sun Lakes Country Club held in March.  Proceeds from the events support college scholarships for Hamilton High School students, Boys and Girls Club of the East Valley, Key Club at Hamilton High School, ICAN (Improving Chandler Area Neighborhoods), Terrific Kids in 12 K-6 schools and other youth and local community organizations.

The Club meets in the Friendship Room of Sun Lakes Country Club at 6 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of the month.  Visitors and guests are always welcome.  For more information, e-mail: sunlakeskiwanis@cox.net.
